I thought it was necessary to look into African patterns and colours for inspiration for this brief.  Also the idea of a patterned wristband rather than just a text based design would be breaking the barrier of regular wristband design.

The idea behind these wristbands is less about security than it would be a large scale festival, but more something for each attendee to be able to take back with them after the festival as a keepsake or memory (obviously not everyone will do this) but most of the people going will know/ are friends with the organisers .

Here are a few examples of festival wristbands:

These bands are actually for a wedding which shows peoples love for wristbands.  Often people collect wristbands as they make for good memories.

The majority of these bands are text based.  There is still room for some sort of pattern however.

This images shows to us further how people love to collect up their wristbands.  This makes the design of the wristbands so much more important than if wristbands didn't actually matter to people.
