Evaluation:

As this brief was quite broad and I wasn’t quite sure where to start, I started by getting some relevant books out of the library surrounding textiles and pastel colours and also researched online for pastel and Parisian imagery.  This then led me to finding numerous pastel photographs of pushbikes and scooters (Vespa’s).  As my favoured way of working is hand-rendered illustration, I decided to take this approach to the brief and started off by drawing bikes and scooters, which took a couple of attempts before I got it quite right.  I then experimented with making it digital and adding colour from the Pastel Pantone Swatch, but decided this made it look to computer generated and cartoon like.  To get the colour into my design I later experimented with watercolour paint and scanning it in.  I was much happier with the effect that this produced and after asking a few peers I knew that this design was the better one.  I really enjoy working on small briefs like this and look forward to it being part of a bigger picture.
