Cheltenham // Chosen Subject Matter

As the Cheltenham Illustration Award Brief is quite broad, I decided I had to narrow it down before attempting to start the brief.  I brainstormed a few ideas surrounding the theme of culture:

• English Culture, Tea, Fish & Chips, Bacon Butties etc
• More locally, Hyde Park (Leeds) the mixture of cultures of students, families and what muslims and hindus have brought to the area which makes it quite diverse.  For example, churches, mosques, takeaways, green grocers selling all sorts of fruit and veg.
• Where I had been to visit more recently and absolutely loved the culture - Holland (Amsterdam), Dutch Culture is lovely and they have so much more care for the environment, more bicycles than cars (& people!), cars we saw were electric, and recycling points all over the city.

I chose to move forward with Amsterdam, as it was a culture which I could really look more deeply into and I also have some lovely film photography from there which I haven't had the chance to use yet, so it could be a good starting point for the brief.
